#66 Oseana

born in Curaçao

Hi, my name is Oseana. I have a lot of time on my hands and I don’t like spending it doing nothing. One day when I was drawing on the block with a pen a friend of mine told me about the Chichi®’s. He asked me “Why don’t you paint Chichi®’s instead?” and I grabbed the chance to work in an air-conditioned room. I noticed that the time went by very fast when I painted the Chichi®’s.

During the workshop of Serena’s Art Factory, I made a good impression with my painted Chichi®’s; I got good feedback from them and the Chichi®’s were good to go home. I also like to do this due to the fact that I collaborate with my island and other people, to help improve the life of the island and others. It’s contagious to paint while spreading love. I love to paint plants and animals; it makes me feel like getting out of the block.

I started painting at a young age but stopped when I was 12 years old, while going to primary school. Then I only got busier when I went to high school, got my driver’s license, the ladies, my kids came so I had no time for art. I did not know I had skills like this till I started to paint Chichi®’s and had an opportunity to show it. It feels good to paint and I think that Chichi® is like music, bringing all types of people together.
